Ok, so firstly - the SM celebrity centre is NOT SMTown. For shopping of SM goods, you'll want to head to SMTown@coex on Samseong (line 2) or SMTown@DDP on Dondaemun History & Culture Park (line 2/5) or SMCC further down the road. This location is frequently used for exhibitions - most recently SHINee's anniversary and NCT127's World Tour. The first few days of the event is only open to paid lysn fans of the group, before it is open to the public. You may need to get a queue number before you can enter, especially in the morning. Photography OK. Event goods are also sold at the end of the exhibition before leaving the venue. Very pleasant experience, and highly recommend visiting the exhibitions.
