The hike up (Palgong) mountain was long & exhausting; a fun & necessary workout, nonetheless. There were resting spots where one could catch their breath & take pictures. The view from the top was stunning & so was the Gatbawi statue.

It was pretty manageable to make it to the peak because of the well-structured staircases. I went there on the weekdays so there was no big crowds which was great in this time of crisis. The Buddha sculpture was beautiful and bigger than I thought, so I could not resist taking a photo of it.
Well, I believe that this place is by far the most remembering and exiting in Korea. It situated at the top of the Gatbawi mounting, I did my best to climb there, approximately 1500 steps. But at the top you can find the Buddha statue and a lot of praying people. I'm not a Buddhist but this place is really exiting. So peaceful place, it is really crucial part of my Korea trip. I will strongly recommend everybody to visit this place.
I had reached Gatbawi after halfday excursion from Deagu. Gatbawi Rock, I believe this place is one of the most memorable places of me in Korea so far. Located on top of the Gatbawi Mounting , I reached the top after climbing about 1500 stairs. You are ready to climb seriously here. Its depend on human for his/her body fitness . The path starts in one direction from the bus stop or car park. Take a short path up there some stone steps off the right - if you want it then take it. Both the main path and the narrower path the steps lead to go past two temples before the path really diverges; one small temple and one much bigger one a little higher up. The second route is on the right (the temple is up and the top is a doorway). I think it's a little tall, but the last height is the same. There is an area for prayer on top and a small shop in which trinket and water, and a toilet. But I met the Buddha statue and many people praying. There is a good sense of achievement at the top and it is a very spiritual place for all people who pray. I am not Buddhist but this place is really fascinating. So peaceful place, it was actually an important part of my visit to Korea. I will strongly advise everyone to visit this place.
Anyone should pray to the Great Saint Buddah with respect in your mind if you are there in front of the Holy Statue regardless of whichever reliegen you own.
Good hike! We hiked up from Gyeongsan then hiked down to the other side which is daegu.
It was a sunny but cold wintery day - it was -2 degrees Celsius at the top. We thought it would be a hiking trail but there were a bit too many built-up steps. Along the way were devotees holding prayer beads as they made their way up. There were also other temples along the way. It was windy and peaceful at the top with devotees kneeling and rising to the chants that were played over the PA system. There is a small cafe at the top where we had hot coffee before descending via a different trail that was much shorter and had steps as well as paved slopes all the way down. Skip the toilet if you can hold it - while it has cubicles with doors, there was no washing water, and smelled like the "country". Make sure you have a hand sanitizer to use after that! It was a long bus ride from the city but it was worthwhile if you like to get into the mountains for the serenity. We enjoyed it tremendously.
Nice short but bit intense hike up the mountain stairs. Great view/bhudda and had a small coffee shop at the top which took a card and was good for a break. . I'd recommend buying something from the parking lot store in order to get a free shuttle to the base of the hike.
