I loved the palace! The main building is quite impressive, and the whole area is way less crowded that the famous one in downtown (Gyeongbeokung if I’m not wrong). It’s really quiet and peaceful, I recommend you don’t go there alone like I did as it is bigger than I thought and visiting alone is not so fun :)

It is an amazing palace in the middle of very busy Seoul. If you take the guided tour - you won’t regret it. Our guide spoke perfect English and was full with fun facts and intriguing stories. A must do when in Seoul!

Fall in love this palace. Several times to visit especially in Autumn and winter. You can enjoy small hiking there. Just like time's slip back to the Chosen'era.

Very nice experience and nice introduction to Korean culture and history. The guides provide very good information. The secret garden tour is good but the garden itself is not comparable with the gardens of royal palaces in Austria, France, UK, or Egypt but still very exciting. What could be distinguishing about the secret garden is that is really is \very natural\ or in harmony with the environment.

Changdeokgung was the second Palace built by the Joseon Dynasty. The Palace was burnt down and re-constructed several times. The current Palace was re-built during the early 17th century. It served as the seat of government until 1868, and the final resting place of the last King in 1926. The palace was famous for its rear garden (also called Secret Garden or Huwon), which served as an exclusive retreat for the royal family. The Secret Garden was kept as natural as possible and was altered by human beings when absolutely necessary. The most beautiful time to visit the garden was during the peak of the autumn foliage.
