Every year I come to Korea, I go out of my way to visit this restaurant. Everything about this place is so good - the food, the atmosphere, the price! It's also a good cultural experience for foreigners since it's not your typical modern restaurant but rather a place where every day Koreans come for dinner and soju after a long day of work.

Busan Galmaegi in Mapo is our favorite Korean BBQ Restaurant in the Mapo-Hongdae-Yeouido area. I take all my United Airlines crewmembers for an authentic Korean BBQ experience. Just a short taxi drive (or two subway stops) from our layover hotel, the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido. Mr. Lee always greets me by name, and all the ladies working there are Super-Friendly and Very Helpful. I give Busan Galmaegi my Strongest Possible Recommendation!

very popular with locals, theres quite a few similar restaurants on this street. basically after you take a seat, you can order portions of pork by how much they weight. they also sell pig skin here too. no beef by the way. you need to cook the meat yourself, and during the meal the staff will ask you if you want egg to be poured on the sides of the grill as well. (no its not cheese lol) the price you pay depends on how many portions of meat you order.

Busan Galmegi in Seoul's Gongdeok district is a popular place to stop by after work as there are many offices in the vicinity. This means it gets quite crowded and very noisy although this is all part of the experience. The staff are very attentive, but be prepared to order quickly. Things move fast when it's busy.

It was my first time I tried Gal mae gi sal, and I regret why I didn't know this place earlier. Great atmosphere and amazing food.
